The cult has arrived!

So,

I got my Cult of the possessed completed for the Mordheim project, I had started out trying to paint a blue scheme. but after painting two, I was not feeling it. So I switched to a Red and brown as I saw these being followers of Khorne.

The whole gang, thinking of calling the the Butchers!

Magistrate and a possessed brother with a mutation.

Some brothers with Bows

More brothers with hand weapons.

My take on Dark Souls.

So there you go, a few more models finished for good old Mordhaeim.

Some ACW again

Okay gang,

Got inspired to paint up a few civil war regiments, I am trying to organize another large group game.

Just a large unit of Rebs, none in particular.

The New York 41st volunteers.

With the Rebs I tried some of Army painters Speed paints, but I ended up buying the wrong color, so I thinned down Uniform Grey and made my own speed paint, aka wash.

The union troops were painted up as the 41st new York Volunteers as they wore green coats, green hats and had grey paints with a red pinstripe down the side of the pants.

I have two more regiments on the table slated for the Union side.

The Railroad Empire grows!

 So,

Been working on my two Modules for the group I belong too, as we have another group set up in a few weeks. Thanks to my buddy Robert for lots of work, we were able to get the modules ready for their test at the last show.

The last few weeks I have been trying to decide on the layout for the second module, which I finally pulled the trigger and went with a simple spur that will lead to a large warehouse building, in fact the whole module pictured below will be warehouses with only two being rail serviced.

The final plan

The facia and plug ins for the module are in.

The modules boxed for travel.

Another shot of the modules together.

Here is the first module.

So there you go, making progress on the module and the nice thing is I can hook these together to have either a small passing siding or go with the other ends to give me a small switching puzzle sort of layout. I also made them be able to be separated so that they do not need to be next to each other. Too many people in our group have set sizes, while the club is modular, certain modules have to go together, I decided that I did not need to have them be combined like that. So progress is moving along, I am happy with where this is headed.

Getting a little Chaotic around here!

 So,

While surfing the old waves of the Internet I came across these STL files from a sculptor named Fabelzel, he had Evil Dwarfs and Eastern Goblins, so I had a buddy grab the files and print off a few for some Warhammer Quest 95. These are awesome models and will work perfectly for Chaos Dwarves and Hobgoblins. The best part was that these files were free!!! And man, are these some nice sculpts too, very glad I found them as they have that old school GW vibe to them.

The Chaos Dwarves all together.

Chaos Dwarf Captain

Hand Weapon and Shields

Blunderbuss equipped

Hobgoblin mob

Hobgoblin Boss

Hand Weapon and Shields

Bow armed

Once again, what great models, he also has some Musicians and Banner bears and another sculptor did a few wolf riding Hobgoblins as well. Very pleased with these models, I highly recommend them, just wish he would do more models.

Black Flag over the Horizon!

So]]This past weekend a couple of friends of mine did a Paint weekend, it was designed to get folks painting and we were going to work on LI, but you could also work on other stuff. So I had dug out a few pirate models that I wanted to get painted, well one thing turned into another and by Monday, I had painted a total of 79 models! Here are the results.

Old Glory captives

More Old Glory, this being some Governor types, all but one (the Cook) are Old Glory. The cook is from Black Cat.

An assortment of Old Glory Captains

Old Glory armed civilians.

A few more Captains from Old Glory.

Old Glory sailors

These are old Foundry models

A mix, on the left, and Center Black Cat, right is an old Ral Partha dancer.

More Old Glory pirates

All but the drummer are Old Glory, the drummer is an old Foundry.

So there you go, more Pirates for some games of LotHS and some models that have been waiting for some paint for a very long time.

Is Legion Imperialis Dead??

So,

I got on the GW bandwagon again and got all excited about Legion Imperialis (LI) as I was a big time Epic player back in the day. So when I heard about this I was ready to plunk down some money for it, then it got delayed. So i sat and waited, hoping that this would be different then the other GW FOMO releases.

Well the game finally hit stores a few months later and I happily jumped back into it, but I noticed that it was difficult to buy much else for the game. But I figured I would pick up another box set and be good to go. I even found a guy online doing the LI cards as a PDF as the ones GW made were online only and sold out initially. Not a problem I thought, more product will hit the shelves.

But I did notice that not everything was listed in the main book and that had me wondering, but I was happy to have two box sets and had two good sized forces. So I happily started to assemble the tiny tanks and infantry.

Then GW announced a new book coming out for LI, a campaign book and GW said there would be new units in the book, rumor is that there are only two units in this new book. So GW is releasing a new book, more then likely the two units (which are rumored to be Speeders and Drop Pods) are going to release alongside the book. But we still do not have a restock on the units that came out at launch.

Now GW has a notice up about shipping delays to North America and the internet is a buzz with rumors of GW boycotting the US (I don't believe that at all). But what I am thinking is that GW under produced how much stock they would have not knowing if LI would be successful.

This has me wondering if it was a mistake to jump into this game (and invest $400.00) on the game so far. With the lack of being able to get product ( my local store had nothing as of yesterday) and the fact that GW is pushing yet another book (THE GW Book Club) has me re thinking my decision about this game. I know a lot of folks are thinking the same thing. This is sounding like the death blow for this game, the lack of availability and releases being tied to yet more books has a bunch of folks wondering and saying that this game is dead on arrival.

So all of this has me wondering what to do, part of me wants to sell off the two boxes I have, another part of me says to keep it. For now both boxes and all the stuff are packed back up in the boxes sitting on my shelf until I see an improvement with product availability or I decide that I need to clear space for it. The sad part is the funds I spent on it could have gone to so many other projects that I am working on. But its looking as if GW did it too me again and I should have known better and expected it.

So,

Follow up to the last post, I was chatting with a buddy about this because GW has re released the Old World and people are diving back into Warhammer. I was explaining to my friend that I was feeling the urge to start a new long project and not wanting it to be a GW project per say. I am already starting to feel duped by GW with Legions, seems that GW is really a book club now...LOL

So back to this, after chatting my buddy really helped me zero in on what I was feeling. I wanted to play a good older game, possibly host an event and try to build up a community of players for the game. I have been fascinated how some games like Mordheim, Inquistor and some others have lived on. Heck there have been some awesome events in the past few years for these wonderful old games.

Our talk turned to Blood Bowl, we had a local BB event called Grumble Bowl that was held here in Phoenix but it hasn't happened for a few years. So we thought why not jump in and host the event again, so I reached out the organizer to ask, but it seems that he will be back in the valley in the Fall to run the event again. So scratch that idea, I had thought of doing another BB event, but I dont want to step on anyone's toes.

So my buddy asked what is it that you are really wanting to do, run an event, or build a community, I responded I wanted to play some fun games. He then said what about Legends of the High Seas? You wrote it and love the game. I told him I would, but its hard to get new players into a game that they could not readily get or the cost is too high for the books on the secondary market. But he said, if people want to play, they will buy in and get the rules.

With that thought, I figured, he has a point, LotHS is now a classic old game, I mean it is now 16 years old! I do love the game I wrote and enjoy the pirate action. I have also been watching Black Sails so that is fueling some of the interest in Pirates again. And strangely, my Sirus channel that I have been listening to is Hans Zimmer, who did the original sound track...Hmmm Oh and a few months back, I bought the Blood & Plunder two player box set, not to play that, but to use the figures and ships for LotHS. So really, I knew sub consciously I wanted to get back into LotHS.

So what does this mean, well it means at least for know, I will be working on pirates and doing some writing for LotHS, I always planned on expanding the crews and doing an event for the game. But it seems that I am back, playing a great game and feel inspired to create more for the awesome game that I wrote all those years ago.

One game for a whole year....Hmmm

 Good morning folks,

So this morning i spent some time getting caught up on my You tube subscriptions and came across this interesting video that he did a few weeks ago (I'm that far behind...LOL).

It was a very interesting video for me as the creator took a whole year off not doing anything with the Warhammer hobby. For content creators that are Warhammer focused, this can kill a channel and if your getting money from your videos this can really hit you hard. But Dave decided to give it a try, he wanted to see if he felt any different, go watch the video.

So this video got me thinking about trying to focus down on my Hobby time, not that I have been doing a lot lately. But regardless with getting back into gaming again, so trying to stay focused now would be a great thing. Maybe it would help to try to focus on one project for a year. This is not a new thing, I used to do this with other games (LotR, WHFB, FOW) but over the last few years I have been all over the place and as a buddy said, my brain spins from one game to the next.

So I am sitting here trying to see if this would be something I could do again and if I really want to in the first place. And then there is, do I just work on one game for a year from the hobby and modeling side or do I limit it to just playing one game, or a combination of the above.

Now, the other thing to think about what game would it be? Would it be a brand new game? A old favorite? So many choices, so many games. Then I am thinking would it be just one genera or setting? Once again so many choices to think about.

I was hoping that by writing this down it would help me focus in and give me more clarity to the idea, but it is very complicated sort of thing. I hear some of you asking why limit yourself? Just do what makes you happy, or your completely mental....LOL But it is a very good thought provoking idea to say the lease. It also brings up ideas of past projects and the fun that I have had with those.

So the bottom line is, I still don't know how to answer the question, and I still don't have a plan. but that's the awesome thing about sitting down every once in a while and having these sort of thought provoking ideas.

A Car Dealership of Carnage!

 Welcome Gasland Fans!

After last weeks game the roar of engines and machine guns has called me back to the death race game called Gaslands! After going through some of my previous posts, I realized that I have not properly documented all of my cars that I have for the game, so tonight here is a long post with some of the cars that have not made an appearance on the Blog, I also busted out my cool logo that my buddy Mike made for me!

Dirt Bike from Weapons of Carnage Sprue 2

The Red Barons Team

Buggy from the Weapons of Carnage 2 Sprue

Another buggy from WC2

One of the first cars I made, a Sand Rail with MGs

Another first car I built Weapon from a CAV model.

A pretty Stock car with Rockets and custom paint.

Another stock car with Rockets and dropper out the back.

I love the look of this car, just added the guns and smoke stack on the side and Roo Bar in front.

The Banana Peel who won his first race this past Friday against Mike.

Crazy 8, who also raced last Friday and was the first casualty of the race!

Brute, just a few bits added to it like the custom plow.

Wrecking Ball, a fun little build.

Wrecking Ball has wheels swap, ball and chain guns and side exhaust added to it.

Death Scream, inspired by Sweet tooth from Twisted Metal PS game.

I added the Ghoul heads as it remind me of Maximum Overdrive movie.

A big conversion, from the stack forward one truck and the rear is a Ice Cream van that Hot Wheels did.

Notice the cab, same as above but with different bed and wheels.

Another early build, used 3D printed guns and plow.

A simple but effective build, parts all from Weapons of Carnage sprue 1.

This build was inspired by the artwork in the Gaslands Refueled book.

This was a group build challenge to see what we could do with the Hot Wheel Erikstein, I mashed it up with a Bone Shaker!

Its big truck, super long wheel base!

My daughter in law gave me this Mini Cooper and said what can you do with this?

My son challenged me to do something with this Piranha car, added guns, fins on the side and exhaust out the back and tried to paint like the real fish!

Another early build that I love, Spike count as a ram all around. Amazing what plastic styrene and super glue can do!

She has a point!

These cars were made to show what you can do without stripping the cars or taking them apart. Just added guns.

Another Stock car with guns added. Stock paint.

This was another simple build, just added rockets and cage to inside and custom paint.

This was made for my wife, who has played, she wanted a Mustang in Pink and really wants runs on the car for traffic! LOL

A Helicopter I built for the game, started out as the Bat Copter.

Back side of the Copter

Well there you go, just a few cars that I have done over the last few years, hope they are an inspiration for you to do some builds and try out the game.
