Why & How

Last night I went with my wife to listen to an author by the name of Donald Miller ( http://www.donaldmillerwords.com/ )whose book I'm currently reading called Painted Deserts. I won't go into details about the book, but I would like to talk about something he mentions in his book, Why & How questions.

First off, in a nutshell there are really two kinds of questions that we all ask, and these could be broken done into a Primary Question (Why) and a Secondary Question (How). So how (or why) does this have anything to do with gaming? Well let me explain.

I happen to frequent a few game forums and I see allot of people asking How do I do this? how do I win?, How do I build this? How do I paint this? Etc, the list could go on and on. Heck there are a ton of books and websites as well as a ton of folks willing to give advice out there to on How to do these things people are asking about. It seems that allot of people want the answers given to them without having to figure it out for themselves. Now I'm not saying that this is bad, Heck I have even asked "How to" questions and I have read and listened to advice given. What I'm trying to say is the How is not as important to the Why.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is Why do we game? Why do we build? Why do we paint? the question must first be answered before we ask How. Am I getting to deep here?? Maybe, but lets think about this for a minute and take a look at the3 Why questions I just asked.

Why do we game? Or better yet Why do I game? Well I game for the enjoyment and the adventure of creating a story. I enjoy spending time with friends that have the same interests as me. I like to recreate glorious tales on the table top and it speaks to the adventurer inside of me. I want to be like the characters on the table top, struggling for some greater good that only the Lead & Plastic minds can comprehend. But really I can't put my finger on Why I game, my brain can't wrap itself around Why I do this. Best perhaps to move onto the next question.

Why do we build tiny armies or put together figures or terrain. I suppose some folks like to feel like God, creating things (if you believe in that, which I do!). I guess we all like to create things, it gives us a sense of accomplishment and in some way we feel good about that. I suppose that we are created in Gods image than, since He liked what he created and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree (unless it's the Tree of Knowledge!). So in a nutshell, we like to build armies & terrain features because it feels good.

Why do we paint? Well I guess this is just like the above question in a way, but I really do not like seeing naked lead or plastic on the table! lets be honest, painted figures always die last on the game table, unless your not painted very well, than someone whose better looking than you dies last. A friend & I did an experiment of sorts a few years ago now, we watched gamers at shops & at cons and watched how they pulled off there casualties. The unpainted or poorly painted figures were always the first to go! So I guess we all like to paint just so are stuff stays on the table longer. But really I think it's more to do with the creation theme though.

So I guess after we ask Why we do these things, than we should ask How to do these. Maybe I'm over thinking this and it really doesn't have anything to do with gaming. But just take a moment to ask Why first instead of How...

Lord of the Rings

Okay,

I have been wondering about the Games Workshop game Lord of the Rings. What I have been wondering is why it hasn't really taken off here in the states. I have spent some time snooping around some other forums and came across a post that stated GW has moved 30 slots in their LotR tournament at Grand tournaments, to 40k. Now I understand 40k is a popular game but why dosn't LotR catch on?

So here is what I came up with,

1. LotR is not pushed in many shops. In my local shop, LotR was never given a chance because of the store employees. I had one employee tell me that he didn't like the gmae because of the one dice roll to see who won combat, he dismissed it as a childs game because it wasn't like Warhammer or 40K. Also the store owner dumped all his stock because it wasn't moving. Now I wonder if he knew his employee was the one telling everyone just how bad the game "sucked" to all potental people interested in buying the game. (Said employee no longer works there thank goodness). But the damage is done & the locals in the shop all feel the same way now.

2. The movies are not playing in theaters anymore. I think since the movies are now out, the Lord of the Rings fever has now subsided. While the movies were comming out, there was a huge marketing blitz that kept JRR Tolkens work in the news just about every day. Now that it's not, most people have forgotten about the movies. I only hope Peter jackson decides to do the Hobbit as a movie, this may re-awaken people to the game.

3. Cost. I think that the cost of the minis seems hard to believe for most folks. Lotr stuff is by far the cheapest figures out there by GW. Most gamers can't believe you get 20 plastic figures for $25.00 bucks were a WHFB unit of 16 figures cost $30.00!

4. GW's organazation of the line. GW has a huge line of figures for LotR, but the way the Website is organized is terriable. It's hard to navigate and find what your looking for, you can find it, but it takes time. It looks like they are starting to get things inline, so this shouldn't be a problem in the future. Also the rules are scattered over a few different books. You have the big "One" rulebook, but then you have supplements all over the place. but like I said, they are taking steps to bring this in line. The Legions of Middle earth book, Ruins of Arnor & the new Dwarf book seem to be headed in the right direction.

These are just a few things that are causing LotR not to be played here in the states, but this is just my two cents, I could be wrong. All I have to say is that this is by far the best game that GW has put out in a long time and we see off shoots of it coming out already like Legends of the Old West & other legends titles are sure to follow.

So basicly this is my attempt to try and get more folks to take another look at one of the best fantasy game out there...

The Local Gaming Scene

Well, it's been awhile since my last post, I was supposed to be covering & playing in a local team tournament for 40K. but my teamate had to cancel and all my back ups were busy, so I didn't get to play. But instead of feeling disappointed in not be able to play, I was a little relieved that I didn't play.

Let me state that it wasn't because of my teamate, I have played this type of game with him before & I had a blast. I think what was worring to me was the attitude of the players at this particular store. You see I have heard rumablings that this store has had some players that like to win at all cost, even to the point of bending some of the rules. I have seen this in person when I used to play WHFB many moons ago at this shop and I have seen this in 40K as well. This attitude also seems to be tolorated or overlooked by the shops employees. So I guess the question is this, does the store breed this type of power gamer or is it my imagination?

I have been thinking about this for a while now and I'm not sure. How much control does a shop have controll over it's patrons that frequent it? Can the store lay down some sort of moral conduct for games or is the shop overstepping it's bounds? I'm not sure what the correct answer is or if there is really a problem.

Perhaps it's me, maybe my attitude is changing and I just have a short tolorance for this sort of attitude. I do admit, that I am a very picky gamer now, I could even be considered a snob because the way I game. You see I only like to game with folks that have the same sort of ideas for games, thats to have fun. We don't get all hung up over who has the better army or who has the better win ratio, we just play to have a good time.

Now I know tournaments can bring out the worst in people, but I have played in a few Historical & LotR tourneis that have not had this attitude about them. Perhaps its just me, maybe I'm getting too old for this, who knows...

Been busy

Well, I have been really busy in the last few weeks, so much so I haven’t had time to bust out the camera and take pictures of anything.

So here is what’s been going on,

1 - Been working on getting my Sisters of battle ready for the team tournament this coming weekend at Imperial Out games here in Phoenix. I had to paint up 12 sisters, 1 Saint model & 2 exorcist tanks, got everything done but bases to paint.

2 - Pirates from Brandon. My good friend Brandon was painting up 15 pirates for me for the Pirate project I have been working on. But due to personal & work issues he was not able to finish all of them. So I have had to do some finishing on about 7 models out of 15, noting to hard, just doing all the small detail stuff, still have 4 models to go.

3 - Lizard men - Well a few posts ago I mentioned a trade I was doing for Mike with his New Plastic Empire figures that I was assembling for him. Well Mike now doesn’t want to paint them due to the over detailing the basic figures have on them, so He asked if I would assemble his Lizard men for him (which are the old Plastic). So I have been working on getting them together.

4 - Chaos marines - Well Lonnie finally called in my services to assemble his Chaos Army for him in trade for the SoB's I got from him last year. Just allot of Chaos marines to assemble.

5 - Toms FoW - Still working on Toms FoW Germans for him, God I hate 15mm stuff! The problem I'm having is that I want to paint all the really cool detail on them like I would for a 28mm fig, but the problem is that it takes forever to do! Tom just said to paint them quickly, but it's so hard to do that with all the cool detail, Oh Well.

6 - Got a new kitty! - I posted also a few weeks ago about having to put down my cat, well we got a new one just 3 weeks ago (Jasmine) and she has been a blast to play with. She is a very time hungry cat to boot, always wants to play, which leads me to not working on any projects!

7 - Friend in hospital! - A good friend of mine Jim went into the Hospital last Tuesday for Appendicitis. The surgery went well, but he is having issues with getting his insides to work again. It seems that his digestive system is basically asleep. We have been to the hospital to see him over the last week and it's hard to get back into the groove of doing anything. You see Jim is only a few years older than me & he was a really active person, and to see him like this hurts. I have had no real interest to do anything but pray for him & his family.

So there you have it, been really busy and I hope to get to adding some pictures soon...

Been Lazy

Well as the title states, I have been pretty lazy with posting up updates. Well I have been busy working on stuff, been assembling Lizardmen figures for Mike, been working on building a Chaos Space Marine army for a trade I did with him a year ago. I have also been painting 15mm figs for Tom for Flames of War. Besides that I have been busy working on some terrain for myself (a few hills & such) and I just recently finished up some Chaos in Cairo figs for Mike, below are a few pics, the rest our on my sister site the Pulp Project found at http://thepulpproject.blogspot.com/

I also have been doing allot of gaming lately, been getting ready for a Warhammer 40k tournament at our local game store Imperial Outpost, been playing some other games with Mike, Mein Panzer in N scale & a funny game that was a blast called Sheer Panic by Mayfair games. Funny thing about this game, I wouldn't have even noticed it but now that I played it I will probably go out and buy it, check it out, it's not what you would expect from a war gamer to play.

I have also been playing some World War 2 in 28mm with a set of rules that my good friend Rob has put together using a conversion of WH40K & Lord of the Rings. Well below are a few pics I snapped a few months ago that I'm finally posting.

Basically it was a us armoured col um moving to the front & being ambushed by a German force. The Germans had a Panther Tank with two Pak40s and a few Troops.



Basically the Americans were beaten back and if I remember right, I won. Below are a few more pictures.

I have also been working on a few American Paratroopers that I got in trade from Mike for painting the Chaos in Cario figs, will hopefully have a few more pics soon.

Also will be making more updates since I'm in the mood to paint & photgraph my stuff, so until then...

Sister against Templars!

Last night I got together with my friend Lonnie to test out my 1500 point Sister of battle list against his 1500 Black Templar list. Lonnie & I will be playing together in a team tournament at Imperial Outpost on 4/7/07 and we will be using these list together to form one large 3000 point list.

Basically my List includes about 70 models with the bulk being made up of 3, 20 girl squads of sisters. I also have a few vehicles (exorcists) as well as the Saint to lead them with a few fast attack troops (seraphim's).

Lonnie's list was basically 2 Crusader land raiders, a Dreadnought, a Predator & 20 marines with a few special HQ choices. We played a Alpha mission of Take & Hold as a random scenario.

Since this was a practice game I wanted to see how the army would work & testing it against Lonnie would tell me if I needed to adjust anything. Too make a long story short, the game ended with Lonnie winning with having 1 Land raider take the objective. But I did destroy one of his other Land raiders in Hand to hand attacks with Melta Bombs, & I wiped out all but his Chappie & Emperors Champion. All I had left was the Saint with one wound left. All in all a great slug fest of a game.

So after looking at the game, I think the sisters are dialed in & will make a great complement to Lonnie's Black Templar List. Now I have to finish painting them Sisters!

Painting again

Well,

After last thursdays bummer day, I busted out the paints again & painted up a few things. last week I got in trade 56 Artizan US Para troopers from my buddy Mike. All he wanted was for me to paint up his Chaos in Cario figures (about 20 of them). Well that is my sort of deal, since I am an Artizan Whore for figures, much like my other friend Rob is for Gripping Beast!

So on Friday night I did up 5 figures called the Sons of Set, which are basicly bad guys for the game and I also painted up the special edition Mummy that Mike got as well. I did something a little different with these figures this time around. Usually I base paint the colors on & then dip them, but this time around I tried doing a technquie that many painters are doing by adding a lighter shade of highlight, I then dipped the figures. They look great, but it really didn't save any time so I'm not sure if I will keep doing it.

On a side note, I also borrowed from Mike, the 1st season for the TV show Farscape. I have only caught bits & pieces of the show when it was on the air, but now, I am hooked. Will have to go out & get this series for myself.

Anyhow, will post up pics tonight of some of my progress...

A Sad day in our House...

Yesterday (3/1/07) we had to say goodbye to one of our beloved cats, Deidre that we had for 14 years. We in fact got her about six months into our marriage and she was the last one of the original three cats we had (Resses, Blackie & Deidre). As some of you knew, Deidre was our one cat that would bless you when you sneezed by meowing at you. not sure how we taught her this but she did it every time.

She was also the one cat that I had that loved citrus stuff like orange juice (actually Sunny D), lemonade, and lemons as well as a bunch of other stuff. She also loved tuna (what cat doesn't) and would come running from wherever in the house when she heard the can or pouch open!

Deidre was "my" cat out of the three, & I will miss her and the times we spent with her lying on my chest as we both watched TV or when she would crawl under the covers with us on cold nights & hogging the bed! I will also miss her sitting in the computer room watching me mess around on the computer. In fact Deidre was always there when I worked on my Pirate Project as well.

Being 14 years old, in the last few months she started to loose allot of weight, which we thought was due to age or her loosing teeth. So we recently switched her over to wet food & she was eating up until this Tuesday. We also noticed over the weekend that her stomach started to swell up and that's when we took her into the vet on Tuesday. Well we got the results back yesterday and the vet thinks it was a stomach tumor that was swelling. We decided that because of her age and the fact that they couldn't do a whole lot for her to have her put to sleep.

Now I have to state, I'm a big baby when it comes to this! Thank God for my wife who is stronger than I to have to take care of this, without my wife I would be a babbling idiot! So with that yesterday at 5:12 my wife called me to say that Deidre was gone. She will be loved & missed and I will never forget my "Number One Kitty"...

Sisters on the rise!

Well I have been doing alot of gaming in the last few weeks with no painting going on. But that is about to change.

Two local shops will be hosting (at different dates) team 40k Tournaments, were each member will be bringing 1500 points of which ever army they want to combine two of them into one large 3000 point army. Last year Lonnie & I went to Warboss games and finished 1st with a team up of Tau & Imperial Guard. So it looks like this year I will be teaming up with him again but I think I will take my Sisters of Battle.

The Sisters have been coming along well but I havn't been inspired to paint them anymore. Well after Lonnie shot me a list he did up on Armybuilder, I need to paint up 15 models to get it ready for the event. I have to paint 12Sisters, Two exorcists, and one special figure to be able to field an army of 70 models. So tonight I start painting SOB's again.

Also I have done a trade with Mike to get 56 Artizan paratroop models from him for 21 Chaos in Cario figs. So these will be getting on the paint table as well tonight.

Stuff Arrived

Well,

The title said it all really, my "stuff" has been a few things. I recently got from my friend Mike, a Easterling army for Lord of the Rings. This included the big $90.00 box, an additional box of foot troops, a box of katapracts and one of the Wring wraiths. All this was for the assembly of two of Mikes army's, an Imperial Guard army for 40K & an Empire army for Fantasy Battle.

I also received two packs of copplestone figures for my Pulp Project that I'm working on, which you can see here at, http://thepulpproject.blogspot.com/

I also received from Warhammer Historical two books, Showdown for Legends of the Old West & Age of Arthur for a little Pirate project that I worked on. And something I never noticed before is that i got my name in the Showdown book as a play tester, so I'm finally published in a weird sort of way.

I'm still waiting on a few more things, like a few Black Tree Design Germans for WW2, some more Pulp Figures from Bob Murch at pulp Figures, and a couple of 28mm buildings from Crescent Root Studios.

Also what started this spending spree was that I got paid for the Pirate Project I was working on, I can't at this time tell you what it is, but as soon as it's announced I will post up here. now I'm off to sit by the mailbox & wait for my other stuff coming...

New Blog

Have started a new Blog with a few friends called the Pulp Project, http://thepulpproject.blogspot.com/ which will be about Pulp gaming. For those of you who don't know what that is take a look at the new blog, but it's skirmish gaming in the era of the 1920's through 1940's. Picture movies like Indian Jones, King Kong, The Mummy & The Rocketeer just too name a few & you have Pulp style games.

I will still be posting here on Cursed Treasures, as this is my very own slice of cyberspace. The Pulp Project is placewhere we can all post up gaming battle reports or projects that relate to Pulp stuff.

Lord of the Rings Campaign Day Coverage

Well we had our Lord of the Rings campaign day on Sunday 2/11/07 at Imperial Outpost. We had only six guys show up to play, but everyone had a blast. There were two teams The Evil side with Carl and his Goblins, Andre with Orcs & Tom using Urk-hai. The Good team had Rob using Rohon, Howard using Elves & Mike using elves as well. Here are a few shots of the games going on.


We played three games, Meeting Engagement, I'll met by Midnight & Take and Hold. Each game could be worth up to 20 points for a Major Victory, 15 points for a Minor Victory & 10 points for a draw. After each game I added up the scores for each team to see how the Campaign was going. After the meeting engagement the Evil team seemed to be having difficulty getting going with only Andres Orcs wining a Major Victory over Robs all mounted Rohon force.

The Elves (Mike & Howard) seemed to be holding there own with both scoring Major Victories against the Urk hai & Goblins.

Although in the next Game, the Evil side seemed to come onto there own with all three Evil players scoring Major Victories against the forces of Good.

By game three, Take & Hold, the Forces of good made a valiant stand and fought back heroically to even the playing field. Now before I go on, I have to say that the Take & Hold is a interesting scenario to play, below is a shot of how erratic deployment can be. I you notice in the picture, there are enemies that are set up right near each other. The Objective is to have more models in the center of the board than your opponent does.

As I said, the Good Team ended up pulling out two Major Victories & a draw, this meant that the battle scores for the teams were dead even at 90 each! So it looks like the powers that be need to think of a more sound battle plan. Below are a few more random shots from the event.

Now we also voted on the Best sportsman out of the event with players being able to score up to 10 points from each game, so 30 points could be had. My two cents is that this is the most important award to be won. Well Mike ended up getting 28 points out of 30 and was the winner of the Best Sportsman.

We also did a painting contest that I went around & used the GW RTT painting system for awarding points for best painted force. I also had each player vote for the best looking force as well and these points were added to the scores that I judged earlier. Well Howard scored the most and took away the award for best painted, here are a few shots of his nicely painted elves.

Oh and by the way, you may notice that there are no pictures of the Elves that Mike was using, that's because he was using my elves that I had posted up a few updates ago. Problem was, they were only primed black with some having a grey base color on them for the cloaks. I totally didn't get around to painting them (Damm Super Hero Figures!). Also I have to say thanks for Mike putting up with me, you see Mike was supposed to play a Rohon force that he brought along. But he was running late and I thought he might not make it to the event. To top it off I thought he didn't bring his force with him (he did not sure why I thought he didn't) and I made him play my elves, stupid me. but Mike wanted to see how they played and went along with it, so there Mike, I apologize if front of the whole world for me being a little scattered brained that morning.

All in all we will do this again but bump the points up to 500 points instead of 250. Thanks for everyone that played, I had a blast running it...

More Old School

Well last night I revisited another "Golden Oldie" game Blood Bowl and once again Mike G was there to provided the game. Blood bowl is a fantasy football game by Games Workshop which pits teams of elves, orcs, humans and every other race from the Warhammer world against each other on the playing pitch.

Well last night saw the Skaven playing against Mikes human team. Sorry no pictures of this "pre-seaon" game, both teams were wearing their pratice uniforms (aka only primed!). Now we were using version 5 of the Living rulebook rules (which can be downloaded for free from Specialist games website http://www.specialist-games.com/ ). I have to say that this set of the rules are by far the best they have done for the game.

Let me take you back in time so I can explain why I think the rules are better now. About 13 years ago a buddy & I were at Brookhurst Hobbies in CA, that's were we decided to pick up this fun looking game called Blood Bowl. Well I remember it was Christmas time and when I got home I busted out the game. Now we had version 2 which included two teams the Orcs & Humans in really bad poses and the game came with the foam board called Astrogranite. We set about getting the two teams assembled and started to play a few games. We had so much fun that my wife Shannon even wanted to play. We also got our friend Don G to jump in and play. We soon had everyone going out & buying the game (About 8 box sets were purchased in the next week) as well as everyone getting their own teams (the old teams in the plastic boxes). Jeff & I soon went out and purchased the hard bound books for the game (Blood Bowl Companion & Star Players book) and were soon organizing a league. We even created a draft night so everyone could draft Star Players for their teams. I remember the Draft night because Jeff went hog wild & had cards & ranking order for all the Star players & people were bidding for each one.

After the draft the following week we started playing our first games with a 16 game schedule to follow. We had 8 people in the league & everyone was madly painting figures for the games. A few of us even decorated our playing boards in colors & designed end zone markers with our team names on them. But unfortunately after about the 4th week people started to flak out in wanting to play. And eventually we were down to only 4 of us playing on all the time (Myself, Jeff, Don and my Brother John). In fact a funny story about my wife was I ended up beating here High Elf team (the Rainbow Warriors which she painted) pretty bad & I got to spend the night sleeping on the couch!

We never did finish the league, partly because of the rules. It seemed that we were always finding issues with them. So Blood Bowl quietly was put away and left for dead. But now with the newest version, they have corrected allot of the rules issues we had back in the day. In fact, I wish our group didn't live in different states or I would get the league back together to play again.

So after last night I busted out the old figures and started to clean them up & get them ready for action once again. Who knows, I might even head down to Imperial Outpost on Wednesday night and try my hand in their ongoing Blood Bowl league, who knows?

The other game I tried last night was Legions of Steel by Global Games & figures by Rafm. The game is now out of print but Mike has a ton of the stuff. It's basicly a GW Space Hulk type of game were you battle it out against each other. It was a fun game and I wouldn't mind playing again. Thanks to Mike for busting that one out.

So there you have it, another night of Old school gaming. Now I'm looking at getting back into Warhammer Fantasy battle again, geesh what is the world comming to??

Old School

Well, last weekend I busted out a game that I hadn't played with in years last weekend. Let me take you back a few years ago, my brother John & I started playing a little game called Epic Space Marine by Games Workshop. This was when you got 3 armies (Orks, Eldar & Space Marines) in the box with a bunch of cardstock buildings & 1 Space marine Titan and all the rules to play some huge 6mm games of futuristic battles.

Well my Bro & I used to play all the time back in CA, but ever since I moved here to the Valley of the Sunstroke, I havn't even looked at all the Epic stuff I have. Enter Mike G, last weekend. I invite him over for some gaming and he brings his Epic Arrmaegeddon stuff over. So I bust out my stuff and we throw down a game.

Now I have to confess, when GW switched the rules of Epic over to Epic 40K, I lost interest in the game, never liked the way the rules were streamlined. So I lost all interest of wanting to play this game. But GW in the last few years re-wrote the rules to conbine them with the 40K version & the Epic version. So with trepidation I told Mike I would give them a try.

I have to say I'm glad I did, the game works better now than it ever did back in the Epic days. It was alot faster to play and we had a winner after about an hour and a half of play, unlike Epic which would take my Bro & I all day to get a result. All in all I'm generally happy with the way the game now works. In fact, I busted out all my armies again and started looking at repainting some of them. And it looks like I have enough Ork stuff to do an army from scratch using some old school figures.

But there is a problem with this rekindling of an old game, it now makes me want to play more old school games like Space Hulk, Warhammer Quest, and even Blood Bowl. In fact I'm getting together with Mike G on Friday to play some Blood Bowl with the new rules (Mine were from the day of the foam Astrogrant board). I also found a guy at my local shop that wants to play Warhammer Quest, another game that I havn't played in years. Another problem with this new/old gaming is that I have alot of unpainted or partially painted figures for these games that I never finished. So I can see old metal getting bumped ahead of some of my newer models that want to get painted. So bottom line is I have rediscovered some of my Old Classic GW games and will be getting them back into play.

Now something different, a few weeks ago I mentioned that I played a game of Supersystems with Mike G. Well last weekend Mike brought over a few figures that needed paint. I was so excited about painting them, I busted out the brushs after mike left and painted them up, here are so quick pictures of them. I added the claws from a GW Skaven model that I had, yes he only has 2 claws on each hand, I know he should have 3 but I didn't have any more. Next up is a guy I call Paladin:

Marvel Comics had a character called paladin, but he had a Purple Uniform, this figure reminded me of him but looked better in green rather than purple. Also the Brown overcoat seems to fit the figure. The Next guy reminds me of Tony Stark aka Iron Man, but a bit older:

The last guy is T-Bolt, a figure that Mike said I had to paint up, so here he is:

All in all I really loved these figures & they painted up really fast. I'm hoping Mike give me the chance to paint up a few more...

Oh and to add to my post, in the game against Mike G, he won playing Sapce marines against my Eldar! I guess I'm pretty rusty in playing this game.

Orcs, Elves, and a Big Skull O my!

Well I finally got of my duff & took a few pictures of my Mordor Orcs that I promised a few updates ago, so here are a few shots. This is a group of converted Morannon Orcs using bits from the Minas Tirith warriors.

The next picture is of my Orc Swordsmen using the same bits from the Warriors of Mins Tirith.

Also here is my next project that I'm working on. It's a Elven force from Rivendall for the upcomming Campaign day event that I'm running on February 11th at Imperial Outpost. I'm really not playing but organizing the event & will only play if we have an odd number of players. Because of this I had to put together a good force to play not knowing what side I will be playing on. So I will either have the Good side with 250 points of elves (only 18 models) or I will use my Orcs. But reguardless I need to get started on painting really soon.

Now here is a shot of some Tactical miniatures that I painted up a while ago. have not used them in a game but looking forward to.

In my last post I included shots of my Sisters of Battle, well I have two Inquistors that I'm working on for the force and this guy is going to be the more Radical Inquistor, hence the Golden armour. This is an old figure that my good friend Rob B gave me. He had been wanting to use him for awhile & when I told him about my Radical Inq, he gave me this guy. Most folks that see him don't even know he is an older Games Workshop figure, from around the 80's I think.

He is still a long way off from being done, but he is getting there.

The last picture comes from a friend over across the pound in England, Tim Eagling. He recently went on holiday (vacation for us here in the states) to Paris Disneyland over Christmas. I asked him i he could snap off a few pictures of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride & Skull Rock for me. As soon as I saw the shot I loved it, this will be my next terrain project I think...
